I’m running Fedora 9 on my laptop. Everything works great but the default installation doesn’t deal properly with thermal management. The OS doesn’t lower the CPU clock when the processor is heating up too much. Normally it doesn’t matter much unless you run some software which will fully utilize the CPU for an extended period. Sometimes I connect an external LCD monitor to my laptop but by default Fedora 9 doesn’t use the native resolution and selects 1280×1024. This results in suboptimal image quality and loss of valuable screen estate (after all I’m connecting an external screen because the built-in LCD in the laptop is too small!). Which is weird considering that the OS detected the monitor configuration using DDC
