I actually had this bikini line session on Saturday (already 6 days ago), but I’ve found it impossible to sit myself down to write the post before today. Not even knowing The Aymster and Connie were waiting, nor having a cool session to report helped! yes, I’ve been that busy. But finally, today, ladies and hairs, the post has arrived! And I do mean THE post. No, unfortunately, it is not the post where I say the hairs are gone (for the “little” buggers are still there), but the one where I share with you the secret to making guys stop thinking beautiful women are hairless women.

As I mentioned on armpits day 4, this bikini session number 8 already was going to have a very special guest. ZoltarStark agreed to be in charge of lasering my bikini line! The aim of the experiment was to 1. try out the idea of whether it is easier/less boring if someone else does it for you. 2. have another person’s opinion on the machine besides mine in olivetalks (as the readers who got the machine are so entertained with it, they have not come back to share their stories :) )

A few days before the session, in preparation to Saturday’s test, I shaved with cream the bikini area. Now, you might have read in previous entries that I had decided to trim the hairs in the bikini line one by one with scissors and not shave like I do with my armpits, to avoid the after shaving bumps/irritation on the skin. Unfortunately, I forgot the rationale behind my plan, and to make it easier for ZoltarStark to laser the area, i did shave… and regreted it 24 hours later when the bumps appeared. Fortunately, by Saturday they had subdued quite a bit and we could proceed with the test.

So I taught him how to turn on the Rio machine, the code, how to place the wand, how to press the botton while lasering, how the blinking sound and light stop after the 30 seconds in Power Level III are over, and how to raise the wand and proceed to the next 5 mm of skin. And how do I aim? he asked… with difficulty, I answered. So, I laid back on our huge and amazing sofa, relaxed and settled to enjoy the show. 5 minutes. After 5 minutes the speech on how it was a waste of time and hairs are there for a reason and are a natural thing and we should not be wasting time shaving/lasering began. He decided against going after the hairs I pointed out and just do slowly but steadyly piece by piece (like Katie Malua’s song) the whole area. Ignoring if he could see hairs or not. As part of the excercise, I decided to shut up and let him do :) After a few more minutes we concluded that if you can get someone else to do it for you (husband/boyfriend/girlfriend…) they will rather hand you the money to go to a professional salon 10 times than spend another minute with the slow death machine. Think about it, you could get 10 sessions in a beauty salon for the price of one Rio machine: you get the machine, get the person that loves you but agrees you’d maybe be better without those hairs on your legs, or arms, or whereever, and chances are, after 5 minutes, they will either give you the money for the salon or admit they actually like you “just like you are”, à la Bridget Jones, with hairs and all.

Regardless of whether the person doing it gets tired or not, I have to say it was really cool having someone else do the lasering and hold the wand. While ZoltarStark patiently “wanded” around (new word? :) ) I was able to write notes for this post.

After an hour on my left leg, ZoltarStark, with a stiff neck and a bored and dreading face exclaimed “and that was only one leg (bikini-line side)!?” And with a Scroogian voice he added “Ridiculous procedure, I don’t even see any difference“. Yup, I mentioned that in one of my first posts on the Rio Laser Hair Remover machine. “LadyRostand… can we take a short break?” sure honey… “LadyRostand… how about just doing the left leg? That way we can compare both sides in a week’s time to see if there are any differences…” Sure honey :)

So, in reality, this is day 8 for the left side of my bikini line, but the right side’s last session was on day 7. And now it’s been almost a week. Do I see any differences between both sides? Let me check…. hard to say… how annoying…

Looking on the internet for information about the rio laser hair remover, after seeing the informercial on tv, I landed on your log.
Already disappointed with a machine I got, that removes hair (one by one) with electricity (just hand cramps from holding the tweezer) I just didn’t want to by another cat in a bag (is that english, I’m from the netherlands).
So really curious to see if you see any really permanent removal or thinning of hairs. I realize that doing it yourself means more work, but as long as there is a result, I don’t mind.

    Keep on blogging,
    regards,
    Monique

Hi Monique, if your other machine was already removing isolated hairs, I cannot recommend you spending money on the Rio Hair Remover machine yet. I still haven’t noticed a clear general decrease in the hair density, although I am convinced it does work for single hairs, after you laser them a few times. With summer quickly approaching, I would suggest NOT buying the machine now and wait till I have more positive results. By the way, could you tell us what machine did you buy, to compare? Thanks!

:( Was hoping for good news. Please keep plugging away. I’m desperate to know how well the machine works and my hubby will kill me if it’s a POS. New post soon!!!

I will continue with the plugging The Aymster… not to be confused with plucking (thanks for the new word for my vocabulary, “to plug” :) ) Unfortunately there should be no plucking when using the Rio machine (hard habit to break, by the way… when I see a hair that shouldn’t be there, it’s hard not to grab the tweezers :D )
Anyway, I have two new Rio posts in the oven: one a guest post from a blogger using a different hair remover machine and the second my next Rio session coming up soon.
Oh, The Aymster, from your comment, am I to understand you bought yourself the Rio machine? If you did, how is it going?

I have recently purchased the No!No! Hair removal system. It cost less and promises faster use and somewhat better results. I will let you know if I have more luck with it. I was really close to getting the Rio Scanning Laser, but once I saw the No!No! and looked at testimonials, reviews and other things, I just had to get it. I will let you know how I like it.

Hi LadyRostand, well I’m really interested in your experiment.
Some time ago I started looking for the different available laser techniques through
the internet, and I also have visited a couple of beauty parlor just to hear about
prices and special cares you have to take before laser exposure.
As you said before, i found that most of them are offering “Intense Pulsed Light Hair Removal Treatments”,
I found only one clinic that offered real Laser treatment, but I couldn’t have the time to go ask there yet.
I think that most of them buy the IPL machines because they are cheaper, and they have
more applicattions, like treating acne or cellulitits, so they reuse the machine with
different patients. On the other hand they (beauty parlors owners) say that the results
are the same as laser results. But I think that laser is more specific and effective (just my thought).
Well then, as I said before, I started looking over the internet for personal laser equipments
and I found the “Rio Laser Hair Removing”. This one looks so promising, so I’ve been searching
info about this one in perticular and arrived to your blog, I dare to say the only one with
    real and useful information.
Here (where I live), I didn’t mention it before I’m from Argentina (so pardon my english hehe), the machine
costs three times more, (it’s about U$S500, like there, but we are devaluated, it would be like $1500 pesos)
so I want to be sure to do this investment, and LadyRostand you are helping to solve this out in some way :D.
As you see, I’m a man (25 years old), but I’m not looking this info for me, I’m doing this for my girlfriend,
we were talking for a time about this, and she decided she want to make a traetment but she can’t afford it.
So I offered to pay for the sessions but she doesn’t want me to spend my money on her, she says that
she can’t accept it, I insisted but she refused everytime. I can’t force her to go on a treatment,
but I still want to do something to make she feel better about her body. So I think that if I buy
a machine (that actually wokrs) she would definitely use it, because the purchase would be done hehe.
She doesn’t even know about my research, and she doesn’t know that I’m planning to buy a laser machine too, she wouldn’t allow me hehe.
So LadyRostand I’m waiting to read your next post, like the rest of your readers.
I hope you have understood me :D.

    Sebastian.

Wow, now I have no excuse not to do another post on Rio… three requests!!! Thank you all for the encouragement and finding my posts useful. The truth is I was losing interest (patience). But tomorrow Saturday I will attack those hairs again and post again :)

Anna, the post will be up tomorrow, I promise!

The Aymster, you bought the No!No!? Funny, that’s the machine my friend got and I was going to get him to talk about (as soon as he moves his butt and uses it, that is). I chose the Rio machine over the No!No! one because I read many reviews complaining of No!No! Interesting you found the opposite! It will be interesting as well to compare our opinions after you use it a few times.

Sebastian, bienvenido a olivetalks y gracias por tu interés en mis posts sobre la máquina! I think the machine could be a very good present (as long as she knows you are not buying it for her because you think she is too hairy :-) ) I bet after a few sessions using the Rio machine by herself, though, she will be more willing to accept your offer to pay for her visits to a professional salon :-D Unless, of course, with the present of the machine, you offer to be her own personal beauty specialist and carry out the Laser treatments (like ZoltarStark did for me, as I explained in this post…).
